Azerbaijan v Germany Euro Qualifiers 2012

Germany have a confirmed spot in the Euro 2012.

Mesut Ozil, Mario Gomez, and Andre Schurrle scored as Germany defeated Azerbaijan, 3-1, on Tuesday to remain perfect in Euro 2012 qualifying at Tofik Bakhramov Stadium.

The Germans have won all seven qualifiers and can only be caught by Turkey in Group A.

Gomez scored twice in Friday’s 2-1 win over Austria, and has now scored in his last four international matches.

In Group E, Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored a hat trick as Sweden defeated Finland, 5-0, to close within three points of the Netherlands for first place. Kim Kallstrom and Emir Bajrami also scored for Sweden, which has won five of its six qualifiers. Sweden’s only loss was to the Netherlands.

In Group D, Sergey Kornilenko and Anton Putsilo scored in the second half and Belarus defeated Luxembourg, 2-0, to move within one point of France for the group lead.

Bobby Zamora

Fabio Capello has recalled Bobby Zamora and Rio Ferdinand to the England squad for the match against Switzerland at Wembley on Saturday, 4 June.

The FA has announced a 26-man squad for the Euro 2012 qualifier.

Goalkeeper Ben Foster made a decision to take an indefinite sabbatical from international football and Robert Green retired from international football.

Capello has recalled West Bromwich Albion’s Scott Carson and Fulham’s David Stockdale to cover Joe Hart.

Michael Carrick will return to the squad.

Wayne Rooney is suspended so Capello will pick from Darren Bent, Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe and Zamora to start the game up front.
